How many guests can you welcome?
The Crooked Barn is licensed for ceremonies of up to 90 and seats up to 60 for the wedding breakfast. Ivy Hall is licensed for ceremonies of between 90 and 220 guests, seats a maximum of 220 for a sit-down meal, and is licensed to hold up to 250 people in the evening.
Are you licensed for outdoor ceremonies?
Yes. We are licensed for both indoor and outdoor ceremonies. Outdoor ceremonies are held on the Ivy Hall lawn, surrounded by evergreen pine trees within our 21 acres. If the weather does not allow, we will simply move your ceremony into the barn.
What is included in venue hire?
Use of the Crooked Barn or Ivy Hall, your wedding coordinator and staff, tables and chairs, crockery, cutlery and glassware, white tablecloths and napkins, an easel, cake stand and knife, our fairy light canopy, a stage, a PA system and microphone, the bridal suite on the night of the wedding, and preferential accommodation rates for your guests.
Do we have exclusive use of the venue?
You have exclusive use of the barn and hall for your wedding. Eve’s bar remains open to the public.
Can we, and our guests, stay the night?
Of course. We have 21 bedrooms, including a family room that sleeps four, a self-catering flat that sleeps six, and a single room, plus dog friendly and accessible rooms. Check in is from 2pm and check out is 11am, and your guests enjoy preferential rates booked under your name.
What time does the celebration finish?
Our finish time is midnight. Live bands are welcome and connect to our surround sound PA system, which has a sound limiter set to a comfortable level for everyone.
Can we decorate the barn and hall?
Absolutely, you are welcome to decorate the barn and hall, as long as nothing can damage the walls or fixings. Candles are welcome, so long as they are in a lantern, candle holder or vase.
Is confetti allowed?
You are more than welcome to have confetti, we just ask that all confetti is biodegradable.
Can we use external caterers?
No, we do not allow external caterers. All food is prepared in house by our Head Chef Keith and his team. You are welcome to provide your own sweetie table.
How does the three course menu work?
You select two starters, two mains and two desserts for your guests to choose from. Vegetarian, vegan and other dietary requirements are provided in addition, and we are very experienced in catering for all dietary needs. Pre-orders are submitted around four weeks before the wedding.
Do you offer children’s meals?
Yes. We offer a two-course children’s meal for £12 and three courses for £15 (under 12s only). Parents are welcome to bring snacks for babies and toddlers who are not yet of an age to eat a children’s meal.
Do you offer corkage?
We do not offer corkage, but we will be happy to help you find your perfect bottles from our selection.
When can our suppliers arrive?
Your suppliers can arrive from 8.30am on the morning of the wedding. Table centrepieces and favours can be dropped off the week before, which we will happily arrange.
How do we secure our date?
A £1,000 deposit secures your date. You can pay over the phone with reception, in person at reception, or by bank transfer. The best place to begin is a private viewing, which you can book in moments below.
